An abstract painter, Marianne’s works are intuitive and concerned with power and womanhood.
She paints deeply textured works predominantly with oil. Self-portraits in abstract form, Marianne’s paintings are both an externalisation of her inner life, and informed by themes of femininity, freedom and social justice.
Marianne has been painting abstract works for over 20 years. In her earliest works from 2005 (Rustic Abstracts) holes were often present in one form or another. From 2010 she became interested in using white (White dominated abstracts), and then began to experiment using one colour juxtaposed with exposed canvas (Monochromatic Abstracts). Exploring gold, bronze and silver, from 2019 (Metallic Geometric Abstracts) she still enjoys using these metallic mediums in her work. Her most recent works depict ordered yet disordered circles of colour (Rustic Circles).
Marianne has produced solo shows and group exhibitions for a range of small galleries across London.
